Evans and Remo

How would you characterize the differences in tone and feel between Evans and Remo heads?

Within styles of heads how do they differ (i.e. coated single ply Evans vs. Remo, clear double ply Evans vs. Remo etc.)

Generally speaking, to my ears on my Gretsch drums, Evans sound more punchy with more attach, coated, clear, single or two ply, compared to the counterpart of the Remo version. The Remo heads sound more "round" with a bit more harmonic over tones.

Again, on my drums to my ears.

I switched to Evans recently and the most significant cause was that the Evans coating lastes longer and is allways 100% quality. I was getting sick and tired of new coated heads from Remo that just peeled off their coating like it was loose paint on a wall.

I can't hear the difference in Sound though.

IMO the Evans are much warmer but when they die, they die immediately and the Remo's die slowly. I change constantly for fun, eh no because I can't find the perfect sound. [img]wink.gif[/img]
